The Major NCAA Basketball Conferences on DIRECTV ESPN FULL COURT:
ACC – The Tobacco Road basketball rivalries are as old as time itself, and the ACC is an old school basketball powerhouse. With the three teams that possess the most conference titles within 20 minutes of each other (Duke, UNC, and NC State), and other Atlantic Coast powerhouses like Maryland and Georgia Tech chomping at the bit, the ACC Tournament promises the most heart-pounding, adrenaline pumping rivalries and upsets year in and year out.
Big East – With 11 NCAA National Titles held between the teams of the Big East Conference, Big East basketball more than holds its own each and every year during March Madness. Watch the teams of this ultra-competitive basketball conference throughout the season as they not only gear up for national tournament bids, but also face off against each other as they battle for conference glory.
Big 12 – With long-time powerhouse and multiple national champion Kansas in the Big 12, every other team is kept sharp and at the top of their game all season long. But Big 12 basketball is not a one-man show – with Kansas State, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas all having been to the NCAA tournament more than 20 times each, Big 12 basketball tournaments are always epic showdowns between historically powerful teams and newer talent.
Colonial Athletic – From underdog VCU making waves this past season to George Mason paving the way and making a name for Colonial Athletic basketball back in 2006, this conference is shaping up to take on other major basketball conferences as one of the best. Watch out for Old Dominion and others as intra conference competition is making Colonial Athletic basketball some of the best hoops action in the country.
Horizon – Not only has the Horizon League sent more than 20 teams to the NCAA tournament in the last 16 years, but it is also the only non-BCS league to make it to the Sweet Sixteen the majority of the last decade. From Loyola to Butler and every team in between, Horizon Conference basketball has earned a spot as one of the top Division I basketball conferences.
Metro Atlantic – With traditional powerhouses like Iona, La Salle, Saint Peter’s and Siena leading the way and Fairfield and Manhattan always looking to mix things up, there’s never a dull moment in MAAC basketball. Follow Metro Atlantic teams throughout the regular season and through the MAAC tournament with ESPN FULL COURT college basketball coverage!
Atlantic Sun – No individual team in the Atlantic Sun has garnered a majority of conference championships or wins, a true testament to a competitive conference. Lead by Belmont and East Tennessee State, taking over the reigns after Central Florida’s exit in 2005, the competition at the top of the Atlantic Sun Basketball Tournament is no better or worse than any other major basketball conference in the country.
Southeastern – With its roots in the Tobacco Road basketball tradition, SoCon basketball has made a name for itself after its early years of housing powerhouses that now reside with the ACC. Taking that strong tradition with them, teams like Davidson, the So Con’s most recent Sweet Sixteen appearance, and recent Southeastern Conference tournament champions Wofford, maintain that standard and tradition of excellence the conference established so long ago.
Sun Belt – From Little Rock to Bowling Green, and from Miami to Denver, the Sun Belt Conference sprawls well across the South. But the sprawling distances between schools doesn’t make their hot-headed basketball rivalries any less intense. Whether its Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky or Florida Atlantic and FIU, these teams make the Sun Belt Conference Basketball Tournament exciting every season.
Western Athletic – From Louisiana all the way out to Hawaii, the Western Athletic Conference provides hot basketball action from six western states with a little bit of deep south flare from Louisiana Tech. And next season, WAC Basketball will also include Texas State, San Antonio and the University of Denver, while saying goodbye to long-time members Nevada, Hawaii and Fresno State. But as the competition changes, there’s no indication of the hoops action getting any less intense in 2015.
America East – Led by Boston University and Vermont, the America East Conference Basketball Tournament features schools from Maine to Delaware. New England basketball at its finest, there is always a dog fight during the regular season and conference championship to achieve the coveted automatic bid to the national championship.
Southland – Featuring tough competition from Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana, the Southland Conference Basketball Tournament brings you the best basketball coverage from schools like Lamar and University of Texas San Antonio leading the way. Tune in to the Southland basketball tournament to see which of these southern teams will get the conference auto bid!
