HBO Boxing After Dark
as the headliner of the event.
HBO Boxing After Dark
is just one of many reasons to order the channel, which is available as a premium channel to DIRECTV customers.
Observers expect the fight to be one for the ages. Rojas is taller than Gamboa and notoriously difficult to hit. Observers cited Rojas' boxing talents as the reason why they expected the match to be so close, saying that the match had no clear favorite. Gamboa is no slouch, though. The former Cuban was an Olympic Gold Medalist in 2004 and holds an undefeated 18-0 record. He has one four titles, and defeated his opponents with a combination of fast hands and hard punching. Though he has made quick work of many of his previous opponents, Gamboa may just meet his match in Rojas. Rojas won his title in Japan, dispatching Takahiro Aoh. Gamboa has been a favorite on HBO Boxing After Dark as his matches tend to be very exciting.
Both boxers hold titles at the Featherweight designation, which requires boxers to weigh no more than 126 pounds. Because both fighters are titleholders, the HBO Boxing After Dark special will serve as a title unification bout. Rojas has successfully defended his title once already. He defeated Guty Espadas in Mexico last February in a strong showing.
In addition to the Rojas-Gamboa title unification match, Anthony Peterson and Brandon Rios are scheduled to fight. The bout will be broadcast as the co-feature of the episode. Both fighters are undefeated, as Peterson boasts a 30-0 record with 20 knockouts. Rios, meanwhile, has a record of 24-0-1, with 18 knockouts. The winner between the closely matched boxers will go on to challenge Miguel Acosta, a title holder fighting for Top Rank.
The two bouts to be broadcast in the September 11 edition of HBO Boxing After Dark both promise to be very exciting. Viewers can purchase HBO as part of a package or standalone from DIRECTV, the premium satellite television operator.
