DIRECTV #1 in 2008 American Customer Satisfaction Index

DIRECTV, the nation's leading satellite television service, has once more scored higher marks in customer satisfaction than all major cable TV customers in the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI). 2008 is the eighth year in a year that DIRECTV has been at the top of the list.

This year's survey saw DIRECTV posting an index score of 68 on customer's overall satisfaction with their service, compared with the cable and satellite TV category as a whole, which posted a score of just 64. The survey also asked customers to rank providers on such issues as perceived quality, perceived value and their expectations prior to subscribing to the service. In addition, the ACSI measures customer loyalty and retention.

Commenting on the recent news, Mike Palkovic, Executive Vice President of Operations for DIRECTV said "Our customer experience is extremely important to the success of our business and we are proud to continue our record of scoring higher in customer satisfaction than any other major cable TV company in the country. Our No. 1 rating in the 2008 ACSI survey reflects the hard work and dedication of all DIRECTV employees and customer service representatives. While we saw an improvement over 2007, this year we are still clearly focused on improving all facets of the overall customer experience to further distance ourselves from the competition."

About the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI)

The ACSI is an economic indicator based on customer evaluations of the quality of household goods and services purchased in the United States. ACSI independently measures customer satisfaction of approximately 200 companies in 43 household consumer industries. ACSI was first compiled in 1994 at the National Quality Research Center (NQRC) in the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan and today, it is produced by the NQRC in partnership with the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and CFI Group.

DIRECTV Tops Cable in Customer Satisfaction... AGAIN

The American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) recently announced that DIRECTV, for the seventh consecutive year, has received higher scores for customer satisfaction than any of the cable companies included in the survey. The ASCI was developed at the Stephen M. Ross Business School at the University of Michigan and conducts a yearly survey of customer satisfaction.

The survey included questions related to such issues as perceived quality, perceived value, and customer expectations prior to subscribing to service. The survey also measures factors like customer loyalty and customer retention. DIRECTV received an index score of 67, compared with a score of 62 overall for the cable and satellite TV category.

DIRECTV takes customer satisfaction seriously, and their achievements have been recognized by a number of organizations. DIRECTV insists they will continue to work in all areas to consistently exceed the expectations of their customers and further surpass their competitors.
